Live Room bookings:
With the rise in DIY home studios or online music production services many artists choose to record their own music without having to go to a recording studio. But not everyone has a place or all the equipment to record drums. Similarly not everyone is comfortable belting out vocals in their front room or can afford a high end vocal mic.
That's where we come in...
Drum recording:
We supply the room the mics and the recording equipment plus the engineer to set it up and record it.
You just need to bring your drum kit and either a guide track with a click to play to or any of your other band members to play along with you. They will need to Di and use headphones (supplied) for monitoring. Maximum of 2 other players. Alternatively you can hire an in house drum kit and bring your own breakables (cymbals, pedals, snare).
We will give you the raw unprocessed tracks to take home and mix yourselves or whoever you want to produce your record.
Or check out our extra mixing options.
Prices:
£80 for 4 hours (minimum booking time)
£18 per hour after that.
This includes the engineer and the unprocessed recorded tracks. Bring a USB storage device to take them home straight away or have us send them to you within 24 hrs.
Drum kit hire (not including breakables) £10 per half day (4 hours). Price is another £10 for any time beyond this up to end of day.
Drum mixing options:
If you'd like me to quantise and/or mix your drums for you here are the prices and what is involved:
For drums recorded to a click we can quantise them (move the hits to be more precisely in time) and create midi tracks for the kick snare and toms. This is what most modern pro studios do and will also give you the option to use drum samples if desired. I do this part on my own in my home studio. This is quite labour intensive and takes a lot of time to ensure everything is lined up properly. As such I charge by each minute of song time.
Price: £30 per minute of song time that has drums.
Drum mixing: £50 per song under 5 minutes. £5 extra per minute for longer. We only offer this service for recordings that have undergone quantisation and midi mapping.
This is because we usually need to blend a snare and kick sample in to achieve an even punchy sound. This is an industry standard practice for modern music production where mixes are bigger and louder than traditional recording.
I may make exceptions for certain easy going genres and where the drums are played particularly evenly. This would be at my discretion.
Vocal Recording:
Price: £15 an hour.
You can also hire our room for vocal recording. We supply all the equipment needed plus an engineer. We have an excellent SE electronics z5600a ii condenser microphone and Audient interface. Just bring along a guide track to record vocals to.
We will give you the raw unprocessed tracks to take home and mix yourselves or whoever you want to produce your record. Or check out our extra mixing options.
Bring a USB storage device to take them home straight away or have us send them to you within 24 hrs.
Vocal mixing options:
Vocal comping: This is where I compile the best parts of multiple takes and adjust the levels to make sure they are reasonably even. This is the pre cursor stage to mixing.
Price: £30 per song under 5 minutes. £5 per minute extra.
I am not offering vocal mixing at this stage as it would require me having the stems for the rest of the song and would in part involve adjusting the mix of the whole thing.
